Hi folks, Anyone else bringing modules to train2? I'm counting JeffVW, JeffE, Iain, Ben and myself right now. Earlier there was some discussion about locomotives slipping (or possibly magnets disengaging) on steep slopes. I'll throw in my current status, too: I've got the materials for my 3 & 2-half modules, and they're cut to size, but I haven't assembled them yet. Having built a number of non-DCC reversing loops, I can tell you it's pretty straightforward to jumper using track power leads, as Larry suggests. I have 2 modules completed (30 inch by 30 inch - each) I have 4 (other) modules cut out and ready to be put together....which should happen by this week. Has everyone gotten there Guarded Inns yet? I got mine on Friday. I never had or saw the original version of this set. We've run into a little bit of a snag with Operation DCC. Mario has done up the TMW5 Booster board, but we're missing an IC for the decoder unit. Whoo hoo-- Toys R Us here in London, Ontario seems to have slashed the price on the RIS 1.5 down to $199CDN (about $120USD). That's a 1/3rd reduction in price and almost as good as the $150 that Future Shop online had last year. Now, how do I (...) Well I just got back from putting together the TMWDCC DCC processor/encoder board. We etched the first board, and soldered the components to it-we didn't socket in the PIC yet, we have to program it next week. My coworker Mario did the hard work (...) (...) Actually you're incorrect. LegoFests were events just like rtlToronto events originally initiated in Southern California back on rec.toys.lego around 1995-1996. (...) Disagree. The DC event (the first one ever held was in DC last year, IIRC) is "Brickfest". Legofest is a much broader term... Definition of Legofest varies depending on who you ask but is surely broader than your definition... My personal one (...)
