Actually you're incorrect. LegoFests were events just like rtlToronto
events originally initiated in Southern California back on rec.toys.lego
around 1995-1996. Most consider them to be any LUG activity.
I remember reading about them back in 95 and going, we need something like
that in Toronto! There's this weird pyro guy with a truck who might be cool
to run things with... :)
What you refer to is BrickFest--a large scale event drawing many people
across the country. Brickfest does not have some form of monopoly over
large national Lego events-ie, it's not the the OfficialCon 2001 or anything
like that. In fact, Richard was first probably to propose a Canada wide
type event with the other LUGs up here-that would be on the same footing as
Brickfest. The only problem is the Brickfest folks have done a splendid job
of organizing such a popular event, and we're apathetic beyond what we've
committed to in rtlToronto program (Technic Trains, dinner)... :)

The form used by Richard is derived from Zachary Tseng's RTL Roll Call
form-and the LEGOfest field IIRC was derived from the above mentioned
California events. This was far before LUGs or Brickfest or anything else
remotely national like Lugnet was created.
