Sheesh, LEGO produces *two* positive female role models in a line and people
have to complain because one of them has breasts painted on to her.  I think
this is a little bit ridiculous. What effect exactly do you think this is
going to have on kids?  They're going to see the cleavage and instantly
turn into rampaging sex-crazed perverts?

Hardly.  My point though is that some of the recent female minifigs aren't
quite appropriate for the age TLC is focusing their sets on (last I looked
it was between 6 and 12 years old for System).  I'm just not too comfortable
with a 6 year old boy bringing something like the Pirate Wench up to me and
asking "What's that?" as he points to her cleavage.

What if your son should, hypothetically, happen upon a Barbie Doll, whose
proportions are much more obvious to casual inspection than a tiny bit of
paint?

As a parent *I'LL* choose when to discuss the differences between boys and
girls, etc, and I'll thank toy manufacturers to refrain from producing
playthings that might force the issue.

Hmm.. What if your child chooses on his own to ask about the differences
between boys and girls, etc?  Does it really matter what prompts it?  I'm sure
you're aware that the child will wonder about the differences whether or not
you want to discuss them.  For goodness' sake, *I* was wondering about the
difference, is some vague way, at least as far back as nursery school!
Whatever the inspiration, just be glad if your child asks you about it, rather
than someone else!
As a concerned parent, I'm sure you monitor the television your child
absorbs, making sure not to expose the young mind to inappropriate material.
Why not monitor the child's toybox in the same fashion?

I'd like to know HOW you get through a shopping trip to the mall.. or grocery
store... or go to the movies with your kids??? do you put blinders on
them? or make them wear paper bags on their heads???

Truly!  The Victoria's Secret at any mall is vastly more suggestive than any
Lego I've ever owned, and most grocery store checkout lines have Cosmopolitan,
Vogue, or some fitness magazine with a healthy young model on the cover.

I would much rather explain to a child about the human body and it's
nothing to be ashamed of then answer their questions of what's hanging
out of someone's nose...

I imagine you're referring to jewelry rather than some manner of discharge!

I think that says more about the people with that worry than it does about
the 'figs themselves.

Agreed (especially with regard to my chastity belt crack...I don't think too
many kids would go there :-).  Again, feel free to call me a prude.

I don't know if you're a prude so much as a concerned parent, which is
certainly commendable.  I'm afraid I hadn't considered the chastity belt angle
until it was suggested here, though!
