Hello Joel, Attempting to drive an RC servo directly from the RCX is NOT a good idea! The servo is a three wire device; +4.8V to +6.0V for power (usually the red wire), an approximately 40Hz pulse train of 1.0 to 2.0ms pulses at 0V and +5V logic (...) (25 years ago, 15-Dec-99, to lugnet.robotics)

Very nice indeed Thomas! I have to say that this, the first major attempt by TLC at the Castle series (1982), was in many ways better than the later grey/black castle sets. If anyone else wants one, do what I did - hit zanybrainy.com, use the Store Locator, and start calling different states. I think that the main reason that the studs fit tightly in the sides of the technic beams is that there is no 'give' in the plastic that grips the stud, as is there typically when they connect to the bottom of a brick, or a plate, or what have you. (...) (25 years ago, 15-Dec-99, to lugnet.build)

Just to let you all know, I stopped by the Target in Gaithersburg and found virtually every 2000 set released so far. I picked up 7144, 8001, 6026, 6579, 6569 (combo pack), and 4930. I recently (about a month ago) won an auction on ebay. I sent payment and I haven't received my winnings yet. The seller said he sent it priority mail on 12/3. Hi F'Amos, I just now put a scope on the motor output ran an NQC motor test program. At OUT_FULL the motor output is about +7V DC. At OUT_LOW the motor output is a pulse train of 1ms 7V pulses at about 125Hz. The low level depends on the motor load (...) (25 years ago, 15-Dec-99, to lugnet.robotics)

San Mateo ZB did NOT have them on sale, as others have reported in other states (starting yesterday). I called a few other states, and ordered some on sale at $99.99 (plus tax). I reexamined my rack-and-pinion design, and couldn't find another easy-to-implement way to mount the bricks, other than the studs-in-axle holes method.
