Hi. Have you tried attaching the data out (middle pin on three pin header) from the encoder board to the data in (also middle pin on three pin header) on the decoder with a common ground to each? Well, I look at it this way.... ...get an RCX, 717 more parts, some could be new, some couldn't, and a newer version of the constructopedia....for $199. Can't beat that with a stick. new RCX from Lego is $129, can you find a kit of 717 Technics type (...) (27 years ago, 8-Sep-99, to lugnet.robotics)

the car will almost undoubtedly fry the motor driver on the HB, and having it on the same power will probably generate enough noise to occasionally reset the HB. best bet would be to have the car use its own power and h-bridges, with the control (...) First of all - get rid of the CAPS LOCK!!! Second of all, if your RC Car draws a Max Current of 3.5 Amps then you'll blow the motor drivers on the handyboard since they're only spec'd to provide 1 A.
