  New website

I've posted some pictures of my current models on my website. There's a (I think) fairly innovative railway layout with track plans, and some scenary including tunnels. An old decaying rural UK station. And a Virgin Trains intercity express train - (...) (24 years ago, 8-May-00, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Lego layout from the seventies

(...) Wonderfuuuuuuuul!!!! Many of the stuff in these pages is also in my picture... look on page 70: the station is very similar to the one in my picture ,and, what's running under it? A Santa fe f7 (quite primitive, but it's a f7). And look at the (...) (24 years ago, 8-May-00, to lugnet.trains)

Bugfix Release of MLCad & More

Hy to all, I just released V1.9R2 of MLCad which contains bug fixes for the mentioned errors. You can download the executeable or the whole package as you like from (URL) I've updated the model section on my home-page with an example mpd file (...)   My find of the week

I made a tour through the Lüneburg Heath (densely populated area in northern germany) on last friday. I visited at least 20 shops in mainly smaller villages and found some nice old sets there. Best finds have been two remote controlled 12V points (...) (24 years ago, 8-May-00, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Lego layout from the seventies

Anybody notice page 89's simularity to Man and his World, Expo 1967 in Montreal Canada? I was 8 then, but clearly remember standing on top of the inverted pyramid overlooking the park and watching the monorail and hovercraft. Don't know why, but I (...) (24 years ago, 8-May-00, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Black & White Metroliner-like Train

These look good. The non-alignment of the black stripes is a bit jarring though. I've been surprised at the value of the 6557 cab you've used, these must be one of the more expensive 9v train parts.   Re: How high are train cars.

(...) In the US & Canada it varies. Depending on the size of the station and the type of train, either high or low platforms are used. A high platform comes to the height of the car door. A low platform is not much (if any) higher than the railhead (...) (24 years ago, 7-May-00, to lugnet.trains)

Re: How high are train cars.

(...) I'm (...) flat (...) The U-shaped ones are the same height at each end compared to the straight ones. (...) I think basically the top of the platform should line up within a plate to the height of the bottom of the train door - this is roughly (...) (24 years ago, 7-May-00, to lugnet.trains)

  Znap use for station roof

I used znap to build a classic iron-and-glass platform roof (with large arches). Looks ok. No pics yet. Eric (24 years ago, 6-May-00, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Lego layout from the seventies

Thanks for the pointer, that is a cool idea book. But I am left wondering, are those bridges really strong enough? The brigde on page 86 is pretty short, but the one on page 79 is fairly long (3 tracks). Just wondering out loud. Thanks, Chris P.S. I (...) (24 years ago, 6-May-00, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: Isolating rails

(...) Yep. Just a single gap works fine. The period that the motor is bridging both power supplies will not substantially affect either one. The motor may stall if you have the 2 power supplies giving opposite polarities of near the same voltage, (...) (24 years ago, 6-May-00, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: Isolating rails

(...) Mindstorms has more than 2 voltage outputs (8+, you can write a program to split it in NQC to 100 discrete power levels, from 0.01 sec power on to 1. sec power on) I have a fair amount of experence doing exactly what you are proposing to do, (...) (24 years ago, 6-May-00, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: Isolating rails

Re: Lego layout from the seventies

(...) There are other precedents for this sort of bridge. See (URL) particular, pages 79 and 86. This is my favorite train idea book. It also has a roller coaster on page 88. /Eric McC/ (24 years ago, 6-May-00, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Lego layout from the seventies

(...) Note the bridge, it's made out of blue rails. We have seen several AFOL creations that do that, but I had no idea there was a precedent for it. Cool ++Lar (24 years ago, 6-May-00, to lugnet.general, lugnet.trains)
