(...) Paul, The bufferless version uses 2x3 plate with hole (URL) when installed the right way the distance between cars and height of the magnet off the track is the same as a buffered version. Starting with the (URL) Dallas DART set>, I rebuilt this style in LDD having an alternate color scheme. I call it a (URL) commuter train>. A few keen-eyed Brickshelf followers might have noticed my latest parts mod, cutting up the 1x4 black and yellow striped tiles in order to make the chevron patterns for loco ends. (...) I guess it's easy to forget that the piece count goes up vaguely cubically. Since (8/6)^3=2.37 is about 1000/400=2.50 I guess the trains fit nicely to that rule.   LDD Train parts are 9V...
 
Using my contacts within the LEGO Factory team I have been able to determine that all train parts (Motor and Track) are from the 9V system not the new IR system. (URL) is a simple boxcar for $19.02USD I made for the cause of saving 9V trains. I realize this could unintentionally step on the toes of (URL) this.> So if you can use those containers I would urge everyone to buy them instead. Simply because the (...) Some follow-ups from the 7897 thread. There are 6 screws holding the motor together! There are either a "star" shaped driver or an Alan (hex driver) wrench. This train newbie needs advice about attaching track to the layout surface. A 6' x 12' layout with 250 pieces of track has to be reassembled daily for several weeks.
