The contest is a good idea and I agree that this sort of thing is one of the best concrete things we can do to promote the continuance of 9V trains. Thanks for setting it up.

One comment on the rules/guidelines: Clarity of the instructions - not just presentation of the teaser image(s) - seems like one of the long-term make-or-break factors to me that I encourage the contest participants and judges to consider. If “typical” Lego consumers see a great model and buy it but are very frustrated because the instructions are nonsensical, I think it will be a big turnoff for the buy-models-from-the-gallery component of LEGO Factory. I bring this up because the default instructions generated by LDD seem to go roughly in the order that you add bricks to the model. This can result in very haphazard instructions. Importing well-stepped models from Ldraw seems to be almost a requirement for generating really good instructions unless you have a fairly simple model and carefully consider the order in which you add the elements in LDD.

The contest has been set up to support 9v Trains by using LEGO Factory to build a quality database of models that can be purchased by long time AFOLs and Newbies. Our (...) (19 years ago, 22-May-06, to lugnet.announce, lugnet.general, lugnet.trains, FTX) !
