I gotta admit that it's not first-hand knowledge with me :)  I know a guy • that
could speak and write some of it, and that's what he showed and told me. • Yet I
don't doubt it was Arabic. It makes sense. Is it possible there's a dialect
involved?

I had several Lebanese friends at the university, speaking Arabic, but since
I'm not so familiar with the language (spoken) I can't say anything about
their dialect. But when speaking English, their Arabic influence is quite
obvious..:-) (there is no "p" in Arabic)
