In this case, they are.  If the place had been full (or nearly so) the sound
would have been deadened quite a bit by the number of bodies soaking it up,
plus any shuffling, coughing, etc.  But since the place was nearly empty
(only about 30 people) it was WAY too loud.  It was not too loud for the
system that the sound QUALITY was diminished, but the ENJOYABILITY was.

If they had turned the volume of the sound system to about half of what it
was, it would have been perfect.  Who knows, as big as the speakers were,
they probably had it set on "1"......

But as (acoustically) well as the theater was built, they probably could
have gotten away with about a dozen 6x9s for all the people that was in
there.

"Superior" and "Loud" are NOT synonyms. A theater with a good sound system will not make your ears ring or give you a headache. A bad sound system will give you headaches and be disturbing (sounds coming from places where your brain tells you they (...) (25 years ago, 9-Jun-99, to lugnet.starwars)
