In lugnet.off-topic.debate, John Neal writes:
To go through the motions of "asking" for permission to defend our
country in any way we see fit is laughable.  Nobody else bothers....

This is more offensive to me than openly going for an oil grab -- the fact
that you believe these lies.

When this is over and we have turned over all of those oil fields to the
people of Iraq without western companies like Halliburton interfering, I
will allow you to call me out and laugh at my foolish fears and imagined
scenarios.  I would rejoice to have been proved wrong -- truly! Should the
opposite occur and American corporatocracy has reared its ugly head in the
clear light of day, please allow me the same courtesy of calling you out and
laughing at your foolish gullibility.

For the record: I will not be accepting "proof" after the fact -- they have
tried to manufacture proof out of lies too often already.  I will accept the
absence of western interference over oil rights alone as proof set certain.
Why? because it doesn't matter what they say or claim, it matters what they
actually do.  Actions shall speak louder than words.

I am so glad that you sleep well with the blood of thousands on your
conscience, but for the support of people like you this monster in DC could
not act as callously as he does.  Those like Orion P at least have a sworn
duty to attend to (and which no doubts places a person like him in a
position of considerable conflict, both internally and externally); what
precisely is your excuse for sending him there?

I should like to bury the dead in your front yard -- I to weep over their
numbers, and for you to count the barrels of oil purchased with their sacrifice.

(...) You know if this really is just about oil, then every American citizen has the right and duty to put a bullet through Bush's head for flagrant misuse of military power. However I doubt that is the case (after all it would have been much easier (...) (21 years ago, 20-Mar-03, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

(...) I second this sentiment absolutely. Specifically, I have the feeling that at least one of the vehicles in our convoy is carrying a 600lb payload of "forbidden" chem weapons, all set to be loaded into a captured Iraqi al-Samoud missile to be (...) (...) The fact is that *no* amount of evidence would have prevented a French veto. They are too invested. And, to be honest, I don't blame them; they are looking out for what's best for France. I just wish they'd be honest about it. (...) Then why (...) (21 years ago, 20-Mar-03, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)
