No trouble on that front. As far as I know all of my friends have totally no
problems with it, and are being really supportive. Some of my acquintances
are being a little funny about it, but then again, there's a reason why
they're just acquintances and not friends. ;-)

Parental disapproval can make things tough (it's harder to
jettison them <g>).

*hehehehehe*... sometimes I kinda wish I could. ;-) (Did I say that?!) Don't
get me wrong, I love my parents and all, but they are being a bit
hypocritical in this case. Just a *bit*.

Getting stared in public may be something you have to
get used to if it's inter-racial.

<shaking head, sigh> That's just disgusting.

Then again, I've gotten stared at in public for different reasons... and I
don't think any of them justifies it.

Two strongly held religions (especially
if trained in traditional mutual animosity) is a tough combination.

<nod> It's all very personal, since every person takes their beliefs and/or
religion in different ways.

All these things can be overcome.  But realistically, they are just one more
thing to trip over.  An understanding and supportive family that respect
your decisions is the best thing to have in these kind of situations.

Whoops.. I musta lost that somewhere in the process. I don't wanna get into
details, but the first thing my mom said was "We'll just make him covert".
So much for supportive, right?

They aren't trying to be rude, it's just different, so they (...) (23 years ago, 7-May-01, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)
