Yes, but do they care enough to do what needs to be done? And if they • care,
is that thing a doable thing just because they care? I don't think so. Any
call for a penalty for anyone is just whistling in the wind because it's • not
the community that enforces it, it's the admins.

The admin(s??) have washed her/their hands of it, apparently, though, and
given the rating Suz's "I'm not going to be bothered" post got, everyone
else approves of that abdication of responsibility.

Well, at least 17 people have approved.  As for the rest of the people here?
We will never know.  Note, there's no longer a way of negatively rating a
post (and those of us who were here then remember the issues around that).
So, if people don't speak up against the admin(s) decision, we won't know
how many disagree.

And even then, not everyone is a member, and of those members, not everyone
logs in via the web, and of those, not everyone makes it a habit of
highlighting posts.  My apologies for nitpicking, but the statement above
needed correction.

If it were confined to just off-topic.debate I'd say, "ya... OK, I just • need
to do better at ignoring Scott when he acts clueless or trolls me." But
lately he's gotten out of hand. He has started bickers in a lot of places
and shown no remorse for his lies and hurtful actions.

So it's NOT just confined to here. His vitriol is a corrosive influence
wherever he turns.

And I agree with you here.

Scott Arthur needs to go. He has way overstayed his welcome. The LD • incident
was the final proof. Everyone knows it, deep down in their hearts. But if
the general reaction when that is pointed out is "oh, it's Just Larry • Being
Larry"... well then... whatever.

Or, "Larry has a valid point, but he should re-examine his actions around
the issue lest they have a negative effect."

I guess I'm really tired of trying to do my bit to keep order and then
getting called the Thread Policeman or the Whatever by the rabble rousers
and hotheads and twits. Really, really, really tired of it.

Bickering with Scott is far different than gently nudging other members in
the direction of posting etiquette or followups.  I totally understand if
you're tired of being called 'thread policeman.'  In those instances, its
unfortunate that people allow themselves to be rubbed the wrong way by a
well intended correction.

I think what hurts the worst, Tim, is that you left my name off the list • of
people who care about the community. How dare you!

So forget it.

If you want to go ahead and take my omission of your name as a personal
attack or issue, fine.  But know it was not intended that way.  I never said
you did not care about the community in that statement.  When I made that
list I just took the names of the people expressing their disgust with the
S&L Show and wrote em down.  You have expressed your disgust (more with
Scott than with anything else), but at the same time were prepetuating the
show.  So, in this instance, I didn't add you.

In other areas, I'd say quite definitively you care about the community,
given the quantity and quality of contributions I've seen coming from you.

I have no ill feelings towards you, nor have my postings here been intended
as personal assaults on you.  I'm sorry if you took the comment that way.
In the end I suppose its your responsibility how you take it.

You know what, Lindsay was right when he said my posts didn't seem the • same
any more as they once were. It's not the same for me any more at all • either.
His corrosion has corroded me too. I'm not stainless, I'm just mild steel,
and being sprayed with acid over and over and over eventually has its
effect.

And I'd be lying to say that LUGNET hasn't corroded me either.  I look more
towards the global LEGO community now than towards this website, because of
how it has evolved (or not evolved) in all areas.  This place is a
communication medium, but it is by far not the end all be all of the global
LEGO hobby.

Enjoy Scott and his community wrecking ways. You all deserve him.

I can't say when or if I'll be back, but I think I need a break from • posting
very much to the "friendliest place on the Internet" for a while, other • than
flogging sets and doing the curatorship I committed to do. And when he
dances his little victory jig and goes on to bully someone else, don't be
too surprised to hear "I told you so" in the back of your mind.

Well, in all sincerity, go ahead and take a break.  This post indicates how
seriously you take all of this, and you need cooling off time.  But do come
back, aside from interacting with Scott, your contributions here are much
appreciated by myself and by many others.

As Richard said, 'in friendship,'

-Tim
