Valid, yes in that they are internally consistent. But broken in that

Also at least partly broken in that they rely on Todd's interpretation • that

an auction).

It's an or-best-offer sale.  On the internet, sure, there's little • difference,
but it is a valid sale type.

Has anyone thought about my mind exercise of how an eBay auction is
sufficiently different from a sealed bid auction to justify being an • auction
for Lugnet purposes where a sealed bid auction is a sale/trade?

Umm, because it's in no way a sealed bid auction?  EBay sends you updates
telling you when someone outbids you, shows you a history of bids, displays • the
current high bid...

Well, if you bid, you generally get zero (if your offer wasn't good enough)
or one update notice. Either an outbid notice or a "you won" notice. You
don't get constant updates (though I do seem to get occaisional global
updates, I haven't discerned a pattern to why I get them). You don't have to
look at the auction to see the current high bid (though when you place your
offer, you do see the current best offer [adjusted for proxy of coursse].
You don't need to look at the history of bids.

Note: I'm sort of playing devil's advocate here. I think there is a
difference between eBay and a sealed bid auction, but I'm not convinced
there is enough that they shouldn't both be considered auctions.
