Gaurav, Certainly isn't in my case, these motors are stalled so bad I can't get them to move at all now unless I stick a 24t gear on them and turn them by hand. Rob, Did you ever get any answers to this query? I also have three of the newer Technic motors that have seized. (Out of a collection of about 10 motors that's a 30% failure rate - not good!) The 8456 Fiber-Optic Multi Set also includes ones of these. The only thing I don't like about these is that the switch is somewhat hard to operate (some practice is required) and that it can only send current in one direction. It also runs out of (...) (25 years ago, 29-Oct-00, to lugnet.technic)

It went all wrong when they replaced the technic connector toggle joint by those 6 angle connectors. Where with 2 standard pieces you could make every angle you want, where now you could have a hundred #3 angle connectors spare and just need one #2 (...) (25 years ago, 29-Oct-00, to lugnet.technic)

I rang Lego Australia and asked how I could tell if I had faulty ones. They said the only way to tell was that if they broke after a few uses they were faulty. The only gears I've seen in black are 24 teeth crown wheel. I have three, but can't remember what set they came in.
