Yeah, many of the spare element kits aren't available anymore, although, as
you said, the pneumatic set is quite nice. The 8458 Silver Champion also has
suspension but it includes the smaller shocks (although they are quite
tough). The last time the larger one was used (the 8880-style shocks) was on
the 8446 Crane Truck, and even there, it wasn't used for any kind of
suspension. I guess the Technic line is moving towards the smaller ones...
