Scott, please let me introduce you to a secret that I'm fairly sure most lego

To me minifigs were always Puerto Rican and they spoke Spanish as a
main language. And they were  dark skinned or permanently tan or
ghostly white since we cover the whole spectrum but still Puerto
Rican. Minifigs are what you want them to be.
Since this discussion starts again every 3 weeks there should probably
a group for it so it doesn't drown out other topics.

EVERY LEGO SET EVER
MADE IS A PROVERBIAL WHITE PACK.  But TLG can no longer continue to avoid the
issue of race within their playsets.  "Why?" You may ask, so let me explain.
Now that TLG has started to incorporate ethnic themes into their toys (i.e.
Japanese in the Ninja sets, and Native Americans in the Wild West sets), as
well as having presented at least 3 "alien" minifigs (I'm counting the gungan
head as one, chewie as the 2nd, and darth maul as the last)  TLG now has a
responsibility to it's fans of color to provide toys that represent a darker
skinned phenotype.  This responsibility becomes so much more so when you
consider that TLG has decided to make toys of a story that is explicit about
having black heroes.  Do you even think that the people at Kenner thought
twice about making a Lando action figure? it's the 21st century for god's
sake, and lego toys need to join the rest of us in it, they don't need to
cling to some outdated eurocentric ideal.  I may be guilty of having a warped
sense of humor, but I think that my intentions are clear - A decision by TLG
to represent darker human beings in the minifigs would be something that we
all benefit from.
