I know that this thread is old, but i haven't had the chance to comment on it
until now.
If lego ever released a yellow lando, it would be a huge slap in the face to
every black hero ever and I'd definitely get Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, and
the NAACP involved in the struggle to get lego to wake up and join the rest of
us in the integrated real world. arguments that lego "is just a toy" do not
hold up against this issue. if barbie can have african incarnations, why not
minifigs? why not make chewbacca blue? or c-3po green? why not make the
millennium falcoln pink? darth maul, his facial tattoos are unimportant, I'm
sure he'd appear just as menacing as an old-school smiley-face minifig.
pardon my abrasive comment, but get your head out of your sphincter. A yellow
lando, indeed!
P.S. I'm in full agreement with those of you out there that think this issue
comes up too often and that it should be put to rest. Lego should just start
making black minifigs and that'd be the end of it. The fact of the matter is
that they should have never hesitated to manufacture black minifigs and
avoided this controversy altogether.
