Nonsense! They clearly represent indivual characters. Whether they
represent the races of the actors who portray those characters is debatable.
The most consistent thing (with the LEGO yellow is neutral assumption) would
be to release Mace and Lando as yellow figs. That is consistent with the
premise that LEGO yellow does NOT represent any particular ethnic group or skin
tone.
However, the PR safest route is to simply not release any fig of the
'controversial' characters. Any release of them is seen as an overt offense by
one or more large group(s). If they release, eg, a yellow Lando, those who
feel that black people are under-represented will decry the "white-ifying" of
the character.
If they release, eg, a brown Lando, that same group will point out how this
is proof that TLC has discriminated all of these years. Additionally, those
who support the yellow-is-neutral perspective will feel betrayed.
Definately safer to do nothing.

| (...) No one here is suggesting that ABS is flesh or that minifigs are real people, but to assert that the Luke, Leia, Han, et al minifigs do not represent a particular group is flatly incorrect. Dave! (24 years ago, 8-Aug-00, to lugnet.starwars)
