Give me a break.  Unlike flesh, the ABS plastic used to make Lego is
specifically-colored--NOT gradients of other colors (secondary colors
notwithstanding).  Yellow, black, white, pink, whatever.  No *real* person
is "yellow," "black," "white," "red," or "brown."  Yellow was probably a
relatively arbitrary choice for minifig "skin color."  It could have just as
easily been black, white, pink.

I've avoided commenting on this discussion (I'm pretty sure I have.  I may
have posted in RTL the first time it came up.)  <sarcasm>After all, I'm a
European-descended male from the States.  I'm not allowed to have opinions on
race.</sarcasm>

My real problem with all of these discussions (about LEGO and every
other forum) is that they ignore the green people.  Everybody is white, black,
red or yellow (for the most part, some pink and brown, too).  No one ever
remembers the green peoples.  BTW, you do know we're not talking about martians
don't you?

My people wouldn't have been called caucasian not that long ago(1).  I prefer
Mediterranean. (Although, I can't spell it.  Thank goodness for spell-check.)
The most common term I've heard is dago.  Although, this is usually limited to
Italian and Greek.  Turkish, some Egyptian, some Spanish, most Israel/Palestine
area and lots of others are all pretty much the same Olive tone.  The closest
common LEGO color is green.

It really annoys me that people want to lump me in with some pale-pink people
from near Russia.  I don't look anything like them.  And, I'm pale for my kind.
There is virtually no pink in my pigmentation.  I actually look more like LEGO
yellow than most people.  In fact, my father was rather close to the color in
winter.  Especially, for a couple of years after the bypass surgery.  Much
darker in summer.

In fact, I filled in 'other' on some of the US Census questions a few months
ago.  So did my wife.  Although, she can't really deny being white.  The
Sachsen/Welsh/Mediterranean entries for my daughters probably drove the
data-entry people bonkers.

      Thanks for listening,

1. In fact I remember a BritCom from the '70s lumping Greeks and Italians
together as dagos.
