Maybe blowing up Yavin, a big gas giant, might have taken the Death Star
with it?! If I remember rightly (probably not) gas giants are failed suns -
maybe it would have taken out everything in a large radius.

| (...) got (...) I'd guess three reasons-- A. Yavin is really big.... it's possible that the Death Star wasn't capable of destroying it... B. The faster they get to the moon with the rebel base, the better... by using the planet's gravity to propel (...) (25 years ago, 8-Feb-00, to lugnet.starwars)
