Hi, on my machine, original firmdl3 took 45.2s to download firm0309.lgo. - I increased packet size to 240 bytes, gaining roughly 2 seconds. - Added packet size prediction and bytewise decoding with a state machine (The decoder spent 50 ms per packet (...) Maybe it sounds strange, but you could use the lubricant people use for their YoYos. As Yoyos are made of different kind of plastics (ok - there are also wooden and metal ones) , there should be no problems i.e.: Your cylinders will survive the (...) (26 years ago, 4-Oct-99, to lugnet.robotics)

G'Day If you are willing to use 'non-pure Lego' parts, then Radio Shack has a telephone cord 'detangler' that plugs into standard RJ-11 jacks, has 4 conductors, and 360 degree motion. Michael, You can program the RCX and CyberMaster with quite many languages (such as Visual J++, Visual C++, Visual Basic) using the spirit.ocx. Also the RCX ControlCenter with NQC is pretty good. The sensor uses two semiconductor devices (that's as technical as I'll get, hopefully). One of them is light sensing and the other is light producing. The sensor works by sending out some light and then sensing how much of that light is reflected (...) (26 years ago, 5-Oct-99, to lugnet.robotics)

Luis, The main problem is that I'm using the gnuwin32 environment instead of the cygwin (and I have lot of programs made with gnuwin32 so it's not wise either to port them to cygwin rather set up a secondary c/c++ environment). It's interesting you mention this. I have also started to use RJ11 and RJ45 connectors in my constructions. It is a neat and compact way of routing 2, 4, 6, or 8 wires around. I've used a very light aluminum air freshener can called OZUIM. It's about 7-8 inches in length and a little over an inch in diameter. I'm wondering whether the sharp IS1U60L component mounted on the handy-board is suitable for this type of application. We managed to make it work recieving codes (...) Interactive C can't handle 2D or 3D arrays.... instead another method needs to be used.. If your matrix was a 3X3 789 456 123 and rows went from bottom to top and columns from left to right then you'd have to come up with a formula using the row and (...) Andrew - - Take a look at Dennis' IRPD ... it uses a 12C508, 2 IR LEDs and a Sharp detector ... works great with the HandyBoard and off loads much of the processing to the PIC.
