You diddn't read what I just wrote did you?  There was no "arbitrariness",
it simply was not obvious at first glance that it was on-topic.
*Most uploads don't have that problem* because they obviously contain
LEGO.

Well, if there's somewhere a LEGO logo on a picture, it should be suspected,
that there is something about LEGO (aka "on-topic") in this picture (even when
it's hidden for the first glance). And I would only remove it, when I'm sure,
it is against the submission rules. I still think it was deleted *because*
there was a LEGO logo on it, and one of your moderator was afraid it could
possibly hurt some copyright. BTW, Larry's comment supports this theory.

I don't think it's fair to me to get all upset because you uploaded
something that looked off-topic, and it had trouble getting moderated.

I am not upset any more. But I just wanted to correct your statement, that
only off-topic and "child-inappropriate" contents was deleted.

Once it was clear that it was on-topic, everything was fine and it's
still there today.

Yes, that's fine. And I'm neither an enemy of you nor Brickshelf. I just want
to help you not to loose your picture providers. And IMO transparency helps.

I actually never had the idea to put off-topic pictures on brickshelf to abuse
it as free webspace as some others may do it. I cannot think of anything I
could put online, that may scare a child. And when I know, I'm not allowed to
upload a LEGO logo on my creations I won't do it, but maybe put it on my own
webspace. But if I have the feeling I'm treated unfair, I won't bother, stay
away, and just put all of my pictures only on my very own homepage. If
everybody thinks so (and e.g. Daniel Siskind seems to have a similar opinion),
Brickshelf will become an abandoned place. And that's a thing, nobody of us
wants.

Again, I love the idea of Brickshelf and hope it will stay for a long time!

(...) I diddn't delete it, Larry says he diddn't delete it. Whoever did delete it is no longer a moderator so case closed. KL (22 years ago, 7-Jul-02, to lugnet.publish)
