I think this is an excellent idea.
I think part of the confusion is that in the TOS of Brickshelf it states
something to the effect of: "this site is for pictures of Legos and pictures
generally of interest to the community"
i think everyone can guess what is a picture of a lego and what is not. but the
2nd part is what is unclear. on my account i've got pictures of myself and
some art ive done that ive showed to people here on lugnet.. does that make it
of interest to the community or not? and will my pictures be deleted?
I would love it if there were some sort of communication between Brickshelf
(kevin) and the people who post on Brickshelf, and I mean by way of email not
Lugnet posting so such discussions could be private.

| (...) Have you considered the possibility that people may not have local copies of the images they have uploaded? I would be the first to admit that it is a bad idea to do so, but someone may have accidentally deleted their local copies of some (...) (22 years ago, 5-Jul-02, to lugnet.publish)
