Hi Kevin,
your note is condescending and frankly, I have nothing to answer to you for.
|
It is condescrending, because you deserve such treatment. You are a thief. My
first post did not outright say it so clearly, but after reading your various
responses, you have proven it. You knowingly copy the designs of others for
personal profit (assuming your cheap knock-offs actually sell), only contacting
people after theyve complained.
|
I credited Collin for his work. Not that its any of your business, but I did
try to find contact info for Collin and couldnt find it.
|
Try harder. It is inexcusable to sell someone elses design without
permission.
However, you made a step in the right direction by atleast mentioning Collin. It
made it easier for people to find the model you copied.
|
I also did contact Jason and told him I based my Delta Dart fighter on his
ships (which vary in their designs as well). As for the Star Shark, I had

After he emailed you, and even then, your reply was dismissive.

The Discus is similar but different in many ways, too.
|
Different in that you copied a really cool model, took out all the interesting
bits, changed the color scheme to a poorly conceived one, then SOLD it.
|
I find your general position of accusing me of stealing or building ships
that look like Lego ships arrogant on your part. Everyone looks at other
peoples designs and adopts certain elements and techniques they like into
their own models. Whether they are internal or external, if they are
external, youre going to see them. Its not up to me to talk to you and get
your blessing to do so. Ill go to the source, I dont know why you think I
have to get your okay to do so.
|
Did I ever once say that you need to ask me? No. So shut yer trap. I am a
concerned citizen, that wants to do see justice served, and to stop you before
you steal one of my own models.
Also, adapting certain parts is not what you did. You outright copied, and
the sooner you admit it, the better. Then you sold them!
|
I guess nobody else can build ships adapting design techniques they like from
other people without getting your approval, huh Kevin? Or are you upset that
I am also trying to sell the ships I make? I dont know, maybe you will find
fault with ALL forty some ships I offer. Maybe they look too much like
someone elses.
Everyone, please submit all your designs to Kevin before posting - he may
want to chastise you before you post because your ship is too much like
someone elses.
|
No, you are wrong. If you want to copy someones model and put it on your
bookcase, go right ahead. But when you start selling things, claiming them as
your own, I will find beef with that.
Here is what I suggest you do:
Immediately take all sets that are copies of other peoples models off your
site.
Email the creator of each, apologizing profusely, and offering compensation if
infact you did sell any of them.
At that point, ask permission to sell their design, giving proper credit to
the original designer.
Once again, the problem arrived when you sell others designs. I cannot
emphasize that enough.
I realize these are serious accusations I (and others) have laid upon you. But
at this point I can think of no concievable way in which you could prove these
accusations wrong. I plan to email the bricklink admins if you do not solve
this problem.
I have a feeling you will not be welcomed on these forums any longer if you do
not quickly right things.
