I certainly wouldnt expect anything less from you, Larry. I dont think
weve been on the same side of an issue more than once. You nicely overlook
the have you no shame commment that really got my ire up. Judge jury and
executioner all rolled up into one one that sentence.
The fact is, I have adopted design techniques and made ships that have much
in common with other peoples creations. I have credited some, some after
they contacted me asking if I based a design on one of their ships. I just
dont think people are sitting around here waiting for credits when someone
else uses a technique they use. Why are we all not crediting the guy/gal who
first began SNOT every time we build a ship with SNOT techniques? How about
the guy who first used wheels as engines?
It isnt your place or anyone elses place to question me and prejudge me if
I have credited anothers design. It is my call, just like its your call if
you do. If I dont think its a big enough thing, I dont believe I must
credit someone else. We all have to determine what big enough is. Nobody
here owns a certain technique and technically, nobody here is required to
credit anyone else, although I do think it is a nice thing to do. Thats why
I did on my recent ship, and why I should have initially on the Delta Dart
fighter.
Your glib, sarcastic response about Well how many ships have you copied, and
Ill estimate how many you need to credit line really tells me what youre
all about. Thanks for being such a thoughtful person.

I have to agree with everyone else. There is a difference between using others
techniques and copying. Changing one or two small things is still copying the
original.
I backed off a LED Luke Skywalker idea I wanted to sell a few months ago because
someone else (Rob) thought of it first. It was a great idea and I thought of it
before looking at Robs website. His work only gave me a better idea of how to
do it and I didnt plan on copying his work exactly. There was only so much you
could change and after a good deal of thought, I decided it just wasnt right.
So I have my own ideas and will develop and sell those.
In the end, you need to ask yourself how you would feel if someone modified one
bit of your idea and sold it.
