Hello,

I just wanted to know who here sprung and bought a cable modem. I am asking
Because I am trying to make my webpage friendly for web users.  I don't want
people waiting 5 years to download, just because they have a 56k. :-)

Doyle

(...) Few people with cable internet have "sprung" -- a cable modem costs something like $300, maybe more, and they're not standardized, so you can't buy one and use it anywhere. Almost everybody leases from their provider -- I pay $10/month. Seems (...) (25 years ago, 17-Sep-99, to lugnet.general)

(...) Well, if you truly want to make your pages friendly for the VAST majority of users who have modem connections, the number of people with cable or ADSL or even ISDN shouldn't matter. No cable modem access available in Knoxville right now, (...) (25 years ago, 18-Sep-99, to lugnet.general)

Not out in the UK Yet

Cable modems and ADSL are being launched head-to-head in march next year in the UK, so nearly all British (and probably European) visitors have to make do with the venerable analogue modem. Nick Allan ======== Madness takes its toll. Please have (...) (25 years ago, 20-Sep-99, to lugnet.general)
Re: Who here in Legoland has a Cable modem? (I do)

Doyle, I do, and have been told some of my web stuff is high bandwidth as if that is a bad thing. I like high bandwidth! In fact, I might ditch the cable modem because it is not fast enough (switch to ADSL). (...) (25 years ago, 20-Sep-99, to lugnet.general)
