  Divorce?

Tabarnak! (This is cursing in French...) Ok, so we've all read those nice little post about a great experience with LEGO, or how LEGO changed our lives in a positive way. But LEGO can also be an important cause of divorce... Well, maybe not divorce, (...) (21 years ago, 1-Feb-03, to lugnet.general)

  Re: Divorce?

(...) Gotta be honest with you--it sounds like she was trying her best to let you handle the precarious stuff. Chairs can be repaired and ISDs rebuilt, but people are a harder matter. I'd say let it slide--hey, she accepts your hobby, so I think (...) (21 years ago, 1-Feb-03, to lugnet.general)

  Worst LEGO experience

(...) My worst LEGO experience was stepping upon a LEGO shark and having it's dorsal fin plundge into the arch of my bare foot. That plastic dorsal fin ain't too sharp neither... To this day I have a scar where the half inch deep, inch long cut was. (...) (21 years ago, 1-Feb-03, to lugnet.general)

  Re: Worst LEGO experience

Other than stepping on the random sharp brick and uttering a lot of foul language, I'd say my worst LEGO experiences are when I accidently demolish a model. For example, I accidently caused the demise of my 12' crawler crane ((URL) when trying to (...) (21 years ago, 1-Feb-03, to lugnet.general)

  Re: Divorce?

(...) Um, that might be your WORST experience, but... a) it may have made OTHER people's experience significantly BETTER b) I hear rumor has it your minions were in there mining away for you, so all was not all that lost, now, was it? (21 years ago, 1-Feb-03, to lugnet.general)

  Re: Divorce?

(...) <snip extensive variety of atrocities suffered by Terry's wife> (...) Terry, your story reminds me of when we moved out of town to our current house. My husband wanted me to help him move his classic MG by towing it tied to the back of our (...) (21 years ago, 1-Feb-03, to lugnet.general)

  Re: Worst LEGO experience

-I once ingested a piece of ABS.- ¯¯¯...¯¯¯ <No! it was *NOT* intentional!> I was young… And the piece looked particularly chewy…. Fortunately, I now feel a ‘oneness’ with the brick!!! ;) ~Ohmmmmmmmm, Ohmmm...mmm… :p Earnestly, --==Richard==-- (21 years ago, 1-Feb-03, to lugnet.general, lugnet.off-topic.fun)

In lugnet.general, Maggie Cambron writes: <snipped most of Maggie's post...> (...) Gee! Can't a guy be pissed off at his wife without a feminist protest rising up? :-) You girls should meet, you'd get along real well. Maybe if your hubby gave you so (...)   Re: Divorce?

(...) That's what I did... Let it slide... Of course, it's only a small misadventure. Nothing serious, nothing of importance. I guess some people might have read it a bit too seriously. Maybe I'll write a warning that says "Attention : Slightly (...) (21 years ago, 1-Feb-03, to lugnet.general)

  Re: Divorce?

(...) Well I'm no feminist, but honestly, after reading your post, I felt more sorry for your wife then you. (...) A joke? Guess my sense of humor is out of wack. :( -Jason (21 years ago, 1-Feb-03, to lugnet.general)

  Re: Worst LEGO experience

(...) Once I inhaled a 1x1 round plate. I didn't got high, so I quit. (and yes, it's true) Pedro (21 years ago, 1-Feb-03, to lugnet.general, lugnet.off-topic.fun)

  Re: Divorce?

(...) *cough cough* Couldn't be anyone I know, could it? ;) (...) What are you talking about? Nobody's doing anything for me by proxy--I had to buy all I wanted at the higher price point this year. I have no minions. Some people may have been buying (...) (21 years ago, 1-Feb-03, to lugnet.general)

  Re: Divorce?

(...) Oh grow up! By "order", I meant I insisted. You think what? That my wife is a stupid person who cannot defend herself against me? If she doesn't want to help, she won't, just as anyone would do. You are pathetic. You attack people telling them (...) (21 years ago, 1-Feb-03, to lugnet.general)

  Re: Divorce?

Gee, this thread went from bad to worse rather quickly. But I have to side with the complainers, you've got a problem. Sounds like you value your hobby more than your wife. (21 years ago, 2-Feb-03, to lugnet.general)

  Re: Divorce?

(...) And insisting isn't really ordering. I think DUQ has the sarcasm factor backwards. Kind of funny a humorous post could actually evoke complaints. (...) I'm going to have to side with you on this... What I hate most in a person is when they go (...) (21 years ago, 2-Feb-03, to lugnet.general)

  Re: Divorce?

All you had to do was say what you meant. But according to you the complainers are being childish because YOU chose all the wrong words to express this "sarcastic" vent? Don't blame us, all we did was read what you wrote. And despite what some may (...) (21 years ago, 2-Feb-03, to lugnet.general)

  Re: Divorce?

(...) But Kirby, that’s the nature of ‘sarcasm!’ You choose all the “Wrong words” specifically in order to apply an inflection. The “wrong words,” when properly understood, are what create the humor! By explaining the nuances or by being stolidly (...) (21 years ago, 2-Feb-03, to lugnet.general)

Doesn't this whole thread belong in lugnet.women.who-nee...isogynist? -The Rev. Brendan Powell Smith (21 years ago, 2-Feb-03, to lugnet.general)

  Re: Divorce?

(...) This sentance explains it all. They do solid tow bars now which would have prevented the collision. Steve (21 years ago, 2-Feb-03, to lugnet.general)

(...) Maybe there should a warning on the submission screen 'Warning, posting's can appear a lot less sarcastic than you think!' Steve (21 years ago, 2-Feb-03, to lugnet.general)

  Re: Divorce?

(...) Whoa! You need an attitude adjustment! A LEGO model is just a LEGO model, even if it is the ISD. Nathan Wells (21 years ago, 3-Feb-03, to lugnet.general)

  Re: Divorce?

(...) Well, I'll break my "This is my final post in this thread" promise to reply to the first post in this thread that's right on the spot. Matt, I salute you. I mean, come on people.   Re: Worst LEGO experience

(...) Was it an accident or did someone dare you? :-) You inhaled it? By your mouth? It's a luck it wasn't a regular 1x1 plate, thoses little corners would have been rough! Terry (21 years ago, 3-Feb-03, to lugnet.general, lugnet.off-topic.fun)

  Re: Divorce?

(...) Thanks...but I was just saying what I thought came right. (...) I'm not sure why some cannot comprehend sarcasm...in today's society, we *need* humor more than anything. Talking about life as it is shows lurkers that us lego fans have normal (...) (21 years ago, 3-Feb-03, to lugnet.general)

  Re: Divorce?

  Re: Divorce?

  Re: Worst LEGO experience

(...) I have this awful habit of playing with Lego antennea, castle spears, and the like between my teeth (much like someone sucking on a toothpick).   Re: Worst LEGO experience

(...) This raises an interesting question: is ABS attacked by the stomach acid? If true... then LEGO is biodegradable after all! :-O Pedro (21 years ago, 3-Feb-03, to lugnet.general, lugnet.off-topic.fun)

  Re: Worst LEGO experience

(...) LOL, Aha… that’s sooooo Funny. And I thought I was the only one with ABS in my system. We should start a Support-Group!   Re: Worst LEGO experience

Why not start a cult where you need to ingest a part to be accepted? We could g for a 1x1 round plate for the LUGNET members and a 2x4 brick for the newcomers.   Re: Divorce?

(...) I hate to be pedantic (and people hate me when I'm pedantic), but Lego bricks are made of ABS, aka Acetyl Butyl Styrene or Acrylonitrile-Butadi...e-Styrene. The chemical formula is [(c8h8)k-(C3H3N)l-(C4H6)m]n. I don't know what a lot of that (...) (21 years ago, 6-Feb-03, to lugnet.general)
