The comparison here is a little skewed, in that you're lining up Lego's
largest basic tub against a specific MegaBloks building set. Conversely, one
could compare MegaBloks' 1500 brick tub for $20 with Lego's UCS sets for $150;
obviously the UCS sets are of remarkable quality, but as a pure piece:price
ratio they do not compare well to the MegaBloks tub. Even a straight tub:tub
comparison doesnt favor Lego in terms of value: the 1200 Lego tub costs
$.0167 per piece, whereas the 1500 MegaBloks tub costs $.0133 per piece--not a
huge difference, but a difference nonetheless, especially since you're getting
300 more bricks in the MegaBloks bucket. Quality, of course, is more nebulous
issue, especially considering the slow but steady improvement in plastic
quality of MegaBloks. In addition, MegaBloks currently makes better use of
basic bricks in its set designs, relying more on 2x4 bricks than Lego.
Specifically, the MegaBloks Combat Tank ($9.99) contains more 2x4 bricks and
is arguably better designed than any recent Lego set of similar cost.

Depends on what you mean by "good stuff." For brick quantity at a good
price, MegaBloks far outstrips Lego in the current product lines. I have been
quite lucky with the quality of MegaBloks I've bought over the years, so I
don't really notice any appreciable difference, though others identify certain
shortcomings of the clone brands.
