In lugnet.castle, Matt Hein writes:
If it were in the $40 price range, I would buy it, but at $70, forget it. I
think they should lower the prices, and add more variety to the selection.

One factor that should determine price is the degree to which the set cannot
be reproduced faithfully (as with the yellow castle where the helmets and
visors will almost certainly be very different from the original release, as
will the 1x1x1 windows) -- frankly, what's the point of this set without
those unique elements? Once you acknowledge that the compromises will have
to be made, a related factor -- as you point out -- should be the fact the
set is comprised of many smallish common elements in yellow.  So yeah, at
$70 a bunch of yellow bricks doesn't impress me much either...

In the specific instance of the yellow castle it might actually be cool for
them to issue something merely derivative of the original -- like an all tan
castle -- because it is clear that we cannot actually get the original set
reproduced satisfactorily.  Then again, having to put time into researching
and building a substantially different design might be the deal breaker for
LD's side of the equation.  Being able to reissue these old ready-to-go sets
without too much fuss is undoubtedly one of the reasons the classics and
legends lines exist in the first place.

Probably, we should all just vote for one of the other choices for now.
Perhaps they can rethink the 375 re-release and give us something slightly
more spectacular for the $$$ later on down the road.

(...) You know, these posts just really take the cake. We've been hearing about all these complaints about juniorization, and then when TLC offers to release a non-juniorized set, we get complaints about the price and the fact that it's all just (...) (22 years ago, 15-Apr-02, to lugnet.castle)

(...) Seventy dollars for a Yellow Castle?!!! What? This is a theory, right?! There's no way I would throw down $70 for a yellow castle set. I mean, it's about the same size as a BFF, and double the price. I'm voting for the Battrax, and I'm not (...) (22 years ago, 14-Apr-02, to lugnet.castle)
