Ah, but then there are the wild cards (like me) who actually do not have a
true and permanent preference for just one theme...
I love my Town sets, and in fact when I set up my Town, it is one of the
Themes that is only 50% MOC, meaning I like the original sets themselves,
not just the elements. Main Street is one of the early ones that I missed,
but over the years there have been countless Basic Sets and S@H Parts Sets
that have provided me with more or less the same kinds of elements for the
MOCs that I do have. Furthermore, the suggested price is bordering on the
high (for me). Too many of the Classics and Legends have been on the higher
end of the price range. So, I did not vote for that set.
I love the Space sets, and Blacktron I is my favorite sub-theme. But since
it is my favorite subtheme, I happen to already own multiple copies of any
set I might want there. If I have $25 to through at Lego, I'd more likely
by more Bulk pieces.
I love Pirate sets, but the offering of the BSB has both of the above
issues: Price is too high for me, *and* I already have one.
So that brings me back to Castle once again. And as much as I always
wanted and always will want a Yellow Castle purely for it's value as a
collector, the bottom line is that more Gray (both bricks and wall elements)
and more falcon shields can be most easily incorporated into my collection
for use with MOCs. I was just the other day thinking that the number of
gray bricks, plates, and walls in my collection has not changed much since
the early 1990's. This means the size and style of my Castle MOCs is
limited. If they offer the Fortress, I would have a chance (and a
relatively inexpensive chance) to correct that very problem. So you now
know where my vote went...
On a final note. I am envious of those who post about buying up 5 or 10 or
100 copies of whatever set they release. So far the only S@H special I
bought was the Guarded Inn (only 1 copy which is neatly on display in my
hutch to show that the "one that got away" sometimes comes back)... Well,
there's always that state lottery tonight... <smirk>
