(...) We have a ton of Brio trains, and 2+ years ago we decided that a table was needed. We looked at a number of options- the Brio table, the Thomas one, and an off-brand one built locally. All of them were way overpriced, and none had really good (...) (23 years ago, 12-Nov-01, to lugnet.castle)

(...) There are no hinges involved at all. The diagonal sections are locked in by studs at the base and top only. You can try using hinge bricks, but they seem to produce crummy geomtry. Dan (23 years ago, 12-Nov-01, to lugnet.castle)

  Ack! @ Airships

You castle people might not know me very well, I've mostly done space stuff, and havn't posted much at that, but I'm very much into Castle, but my lack of good camera is restricting me from posting much. Anyway... So many airships! All these designs (...) (23 years ago, 13-Nov-01, to lugnet.castle)

  Re: Ack! @ Airships

(...) Heh- a large part of the reason that I made an airship instead of a sailing ship was that I don't have any sails. Actually that's not quite true- I do have a "ripped" pirate sail from one set, but it wasn't really appropriate). I had (...) (23 years ago, 13-Nov-01, to lugnet.castle)

(...) Everyone has their own limits for what they feel is pure. And most of us don't try to shove our personal definitions down others' throats. That said... I wouldn't mend a Lego sail that way. I'd have to poke holes in the sail to do that, and (...) (23 years ago, 13-Nov-01, to lugnet.castle)

  Brief IOM update

Here is a brief news article about the latest happening at the Bricktanesian camp: After making landfall, preperations began for a housing structure, and as of right now, the last major pieces are being set in place. It is an all stone structure, (...) (23 years ago, 13-Nov-01, to lugnet.castle)

Sailing Ships (a lack of them)

Hello everyone, I've started out on writing some rules for a naval combat game set in a castle style era. I had about four pages but was a nimrod and forgot to save and then the program crashed and I lost all my work. :( Anyways I suppose I should (...) (23 years ago, 14-Nov-01, to lugnet.castle)

  Cannons?

This is probably a stupid question, but when did cannons come into use? Would a ship in the 'castle' era have cannons? (23 years ago, 14-Nov-01, to lugnet.castle, lugnet.pirates)

  Re: Cannons?

(...) The commonly accepted date for the European adoption of cannon is 1327, when one appears (IIRC) on the Bayeux Tapestry as sort of a modified ballista (it's firing a giant arrowhead). But that's an indication that, by then, cannon had diffused (...) (23 years ago, 14-Nov-01, to lugnet.castle)

  Re: Cannons?

(...) Correction--oops. Bayeux Tapestry is the depiction of the Battle of Hastings. I'm thinking of another tapestry, but the date is right (1324, 1326, and 1327 are the ones given). I hate making misteaks like that. best LFB (23 years ago, 14-Nov-01, to lugnet.castle)
