Hi, You actually don't have to understand much about POV-RAY to use it. Just download L3P. You run that to covert the.dat file to a .pov. Then, you just open the file in the POV-RAY program, and select a resolution from the combo-box on the upper (...) (24 years ago, 30-Oct-00, to lugnet.cad.mlcad)

Hi, I'm not sure I completely understand what you mean by "angle." There is something called "angle" that actually controls the the type of "lense" that you are using (i.e. a wide angle verses a telephoto). These settings are independent. The angle (...) Hi, I haven't been working with MLCad too long, but I have run into the same sort of problems. Here is one suggestion that I have that works well, I think. If you are working on a large model, you can "hide" a whole bunch of pieces that are on a (...) (24 years ago, 30-Oct-00, to lugnet.cad.mlcad)

For some reason, this minifig has tan arms, but the color printed on the torso it's self is white. Well, more of an off-white, but closer to white than tan. That is, make your main model an MPD and make lots of smaller sections that you assemble into one overall. when you are working on a subassembly you are only (...) A few messages ago, I brought up a technique for setting camera positions in POV-RAY by setting up light source objects in MLCAD. I had heard this from someone else. That's nice. Have you considered rendering it with POV-RAY? This is a free program that is relatively easy to use and provides much better display than MLCAD. You still use MLCAD for all the editing, but then you run POV-RAY to create a nicer (...) (24 years ago, 30-Oct-00, to lugnet.cad.mlcad)

Fortunately, there are several things you can do to speed things up: - First of all, make sure you have the very latest MLCAD release ( 1.99 ) - If you didn't download it in the last week, then its old. Hmmm I actually create my rendered files a little differently. If you use MLCAD, you most certainly can see the x,y,z co-ordinates in the bottom left corner when you move the mouse around in the Top, Down, Left, Right, Front and Back "View Angles" (...) The options for rotation points don't seem to be working 100%. The rotations themselves seem perfect, but the point of rotation selection options are having some trouble. (...) It's the large fonts. I changed the window so that it is a static size, but it appears font sizes are causing a problem. Someone else mentioned this in a direct email. (...) Actually yes, and it's simple enough. Go into the .l3A (using notepad, ultra-edit, etc) and append: ",0,7" to the last line of the file. Save the file and it should work just fine. Version 1.2.5 is up. I added a (much-requested) command line textbox that shows the output before it is sent to L3P. (...) Standard accepted practice in the parts authoring community is to *not* do this. That is, don't draw parts you don't actually have in front of you. Jamie (my 12yo son) discovered an interesting shape, using plate hinges. He built an octagonal shape, by putting hinge plates <part: 4275> and <part: 4276> onto a z-bracket <part: 6087>.
