Hi, Karl. Thanks for your thoughts.

By “most recent installment”, I assume you’re referring to the Teachings of Jesus stuff from a month ago and not any of the many King Saul stories I’ve done since then, yes?

I suppose the George W. Bush illustrations in the Teachings of Jesus are “political” inasmuch as GWB is our current political leader, but I don’t see the illustrations as making a “political” point. I suppose they are making more of a religious or moral point. Certainly you could swap out GWB for plenty of, say, Democrats and the points would be equally valid. GWB is just a more perfect example of Christian hypocrisy in my mind, as he calls special attention to his Christian values and faith and he has been calling the shots in the White House that seem to fly in the face of Jesus’s actual teachings.

The illustrations of the non-narrative parts of the Bible like The Law of Moses and the Teachings of Jesus are intended to highlight how the great majority of of these Biblical laws and teachings are not being followed by modern believers, and to try to get people to question whether or not they should be followed by presenting illustrations of how things might look if these laws and teachings actually were followed.

But it may not be everybody’s cup of tea. If you’d rather just stick to the illustrations of the Biblical narrative, you’ll be happy to know that it’ll likely be narrative upon narrative for the next many, many updates.

Where once I came to see a fairly unbiased Bible in beautiful LEGO, now I come for some laughs. The former is rare indeed, the later can be found almost anywhere, albeit perhaps not in beautiful LEGO.

I always hoped The Brick Testament would be a combination of beauty, horror, and laughter. :)

It is of course your production and your vision, and it’s so well done that I will keep coming back regardless, but I thought I’d just let you know what my thoughts were.

It’s appreciated, Karl.

Best,

-Brendan

(...) Hi Brendan, I've been away from lugnet for a couple months... so this is (I think) fairly unrelated to the 69 message mania that went before (I didn't read it all). As usual, BPS, you have managed to put together some very well assembled and (...) (18 years ago, 27-Nov-06, to lugnet.build.ancient, FTX)
