The original VF-1 Valkyrie toys were made by Takatoku toys back in the early 80's. Eventually, Bandai bought the rights from Takatoku and produced some of the later Valkyrie models (like stuff seen in Macross: Do You Remember Love?). After (...) (24 years ago, 7-Jun-00, to lugnet.build.mecha)

It's not an issue of incompetence... I know how to use LDRAW, and I often use LEOCAD to design things that I don't have the pieces for... but I still prefer "true" building to CAD modeling. Also, LCAD models can be rendered from any view with any background and always completely in focus. Photographing models requires good lighting, a (...) I like the idea of trying to build gundam-like mechs, but I don't like to disassemble half of my collection to build them. I had just watched Gundam Wing the other day when I had an idea. I second that emotion Karim. Before I knew how to use LDRAW, MLCAD, L3P, and POV-Ray I thought the same as you Mark and Bryan, but once I learned how to use them it opened up a whole new way to enjoy my hobby, not only would my models have the (...) (24 years ago, 5-Jun-00, to lugnet.build.mecha)

I've found that a bit o' Brasso on a Q-Tip works better than an X-Acto knife for removing microphones... not as much scarring. It does get tricky in small spaces, so if you trim down the fuzz on the Q-Tip first, it can help. I used this method on a (...) (24 years ago, 5-Jun-00, to lugnet.build.minifigs)

Seeing a photo of an awesome model is always more impressive IMO than seeing an LCAD drawing, especially since LCAD lets you "cheat" and make certain parts in colors (or transparent) that weren't (...) Hey Steve, CO2 is a good idea, but how do you set them off? I've only seen C02 in those little pellet gun-sized cartridges and paintball gun cartridges. That's definitely something to think about as the MegaBloks plate got a bit melted from the (...) (24 years ago, 5-Jun-00, to lugnet.build)

I agree with you Steve. I like most of the mechs I've seen, but I like them much better if the pictures are real and not just computer generated renderings. Actually I have built the "Ryu" mech from the LCad instructions on Karim's site, it is about 95% complete and will stand on it's own (with some careful balancing) as long as the booster "backpack" is not attached.I have made some changes to the (...)
