inexperienced camera owner.

Or someone who is using a digital camera that is old enough that the
focus depth can't be less than 3 feet? I had that problem with my last
batch of pictures. I had the misfortune of using a borrowed 2-year-old
Sony Mavica that just wouldn't focus up close. Please don't assume that
it's because of inexperience. I'm getting a new camera this week, so no
more blurry pics.

I agree that models that have pictures taken of them are more-jaw-dropping
than a model just made with Ldraw (I just use a regular camera and develop the
pictures and get a Photo CD, which gets very expensive). However, I feel that
someone who does both is not just wasting there time. As of now, I have a
model on my site (Perdiion) where all the pictures are IRL, but you can
download the Ldraw dat file for it. With porgrams such as L3Lab, a person can
see every possible view of the model in real time and also have the directions
to build the model as well. Ldraw is also an outlet for those people who have
the Lego "itch" but do not have any legos (I'm almost out of spare parts
myself).

(...) except (...) twice (...) Not really. The creative effort that goes into the model is over once you finish building it IRL. After that, you're merely copying your already-built model. I'd rather spend that time building something else IRL. (...) (24 years ago, 5-Jun-00, to lugnet.build.mecha)
