So I hope I didn't misunderstand the purpose of IOLTC.  I assume that it is
just going to be a place where groups can share experiances and ideas without
the worry about "Big Brother" looking over their shoulders.

Well, in sub-threads like this one:

http://news.lugnet.com/trains/org/?n=1189

it seems a lot like IOLTC, IBLTC, or ICLTC (whatever it ends up getting
called) is going to be expected to "negotiate" with TLC, etc on behalf of its
sub-groups.

If that is going to be the case, NELUG should seriously discuss whether or not
we want to join in such an endeavor.

I would agree.  I things are still in the planning stage so I want to wait it
out but I don't think this new organization should or could negotiate flat deal
that would satisfy all regional organizaions.

I personally only want to do this for information sharing that can be used by
us to work out our own deals.  If NELUG membership requires much more I would
say we're out.

As I said, I have nothing against sharing info with other groups- in fact, I
would love an environment that encouraged that kind of information sharing.
But I wouldn't want to see NELUG tied to other groups more formally.

Agreed, many groups have many different philosophys about how to run their
group and anything that would endanger those philosophys I think would be
shunned.  For example I would never say we should change our age limitation
because the larger group said we should, although I would be happy to explain
why we have the rule (to the smaller group so they can decide if it would work
for them).

I wouldn't worry to much yet.  I won't be tieing us to anything.  Actually if
you want to be the other representative on NELUG to keep me honest I would
appretiate it.
