The reason those sets were out on the floor was the same reason Wal-Mart is so successful. See, Wal-Mart can have lower prices on things because they have no inventory in the back. (...) I doubt this would have been true mostly because ST the Motion Picture was just a little to slow. It was closer to 2001 ASO then it was SW. SW had blasters firing and a much faster script. Several TRU's are gonna have the Midnight Madness when Episode II toys come out. Check out www.theforce.net and look under Collecting. They have a list of all participating TRU locations. BTW. Spotted the 8012 Super Batter Droid in a northern Toronto TRU. The price scanner even scanned it!!! $50 CDN, which I guess is pretty close to the 35 USD price. No other Episode II sets though. Just got this one and built it. Here's one "problem" I haven't seen mentioned: Where's the rest of the R2 unit!?!?!?! What good is a head without the rest? WalMart HAS put a Sell Not Allowed on the Episode II stuff. However, if they have the sets out on the floor, it's pretty hard for them not to sell it to you. In visiting some Walmarts in my area this past weekend I found 3 stores that had one or (...) (23 years ago, 8-Apr-02, to lugnet.starwars)

Here is likely what happened (IMHO) 1.episode 2 product (not just the lego but the action figures etc) is distributed from the manufacturers to the wal-mart distribution centres. 2.trucks go from those centres loaded with stuff for different (...) (23 years ago, 8-Apr-02, to lugnet.starwars)

I had a simular problem at Wal-mart here in south Louisiana on Thursday night.. The set when scanned at the register came up with "Sale not allowed" but 20 mins later after 3 price check calls to the toy department, they came up with a price (...) Tonight in Calgary, Alberta I found Jango Fett's Slave I and the Technic Jango Fett in Walmart. They were both on the top shelf of the Lego area. Hi Gang, After assembling Lego's version of the destroyer droid, I was a little disappointed with it. So I decided that I would try building my own. Hi, Just picked up the Republic Gunship at Walmart in Rome GA. They had the Yoda statue too. Like all good AFOL's, I went to walmart looking on top shelves for deals... then I saw a huge pile of ep 2 sets (some I've already gotten) on an aisle next (...) Nothing better than opening up the browser and finding another addtion to the alphabet series. Again, the innovation astounds me. I think what is most appealing about this craft is the orientation.
