The reason those sets were out on the floor was the same reason Wal-Mart is
so successful.  See, Wal-Mart can have lower prices on things because they
have no inventory in the back.  They have 99.9% of their products on the
floor, so they can dedicate more space to products and less to storage.
Anything you ask for in a Wal-Mart, if you don't see it, they don't have it.

What happened?  They put it on the shelves.  We grabbed it and ran up to the
front, and the workers get paid the same whether they tell us we can buy it
now or we have to wait.  When the Episode 1 stuff came out they have huge
pallets of it in the front, shrink-wrapped up with large signs (at least in
Madison, IN) saying "DO NOT TOUCH UNTIL MIDNIGHT OR GEORGE LUCAS WILL SMITE
YOU!"  Obviously they slacked off a little this time, and Lucas got mad.  So
he stopped swimming around in his huge vault of money a'la Scrooge McDuck,
and told Wal-Mart that if they don't shape up, they lose all Star Wars
stuff.  Nobody wants that.

Have you tried: -->Some Wal Mart employees don't care about what they are doing? The boxes of Episode II lego I saw were clearly marked "not for display until xx date"... IMHO, only about 20% of Wal-Mart employees *actually care* about paying (...) (22 years ago, 8-Apr-02, to lugnet.starwars)
