I think this is exactly right, and I would suggest that the other
late-70's might not have been possible or successful without many of the
techniques established during Star Wars, not to mention the
market-credibility of science fiction following the 1977 blockbuster release.

| (...) I believe that most sci-fi after Star Wars used Lucases own special effects production company, ILM, to do the effects in their movies. Before this, most studios did cheesy effects 'in house' (2001 being a noteable exception, those were pretty (...) (23 years ago, 11-Apr-02, to lugnet.starwars)
