Here is the catch to all these arguements.  Even in a Libertarian state, the
thing most revered and respected is personal freedoms.  One major freedom is
the right for a person to decide where they desire to live and persue
happiness.  If Juan Miguel, who seems to be of sound mind, desires that he and
his son live in Cuba, who are we to interupt that.  Now if the boy were to
actively seek refuge from Cuba the story would be a little different, however,
the communist brainwashing machine has set in to convince Elian that life in
Cuba is best; and there is not a thing we can do, or should do about it.

Is it brainwashing, yes in a way, but also in a way isn't it brainwashing to
convince a child largely incapable of comprehending democracy vs. communism
that freedom is the best? We take him to Disneyworld, feed him meat and milk,
luxuries in Cuba, and hope he likes it here better. My first post did not
dissagree with the position of reuniting father and son, merely the raid
ordered by Reno, to circumvent the judicial branch.

Communism is evil, it is demoralizing, overbearing, and cruel.  True communism
touts equallity, yet only reaches collective mediocrity. Cuba is an even more
insideous form of communism, where the motto is "we are all equal, but some of
us are more equal than others."  Castro and his goons live in luxury while the
rest of the country serve in squallor.

sorry sometimes I talk to much.

I think this is the key point in the post that needs responding to. Let's posit a theoretical example. Suppose (...) (24 years ago, 27-Apr-00, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)
