So I assume you believe that separate bathrooms for men and women is sexist
and wrong?
|
As a matter of fact, I do think its pointless.

What if I took 2 polls and asking men and then women whether or not theyd
like to see unisex restrooms-- how do you suppose the results would differ?
You as a male may think its pointless, but I seriously doubt that women
would feel the same way, and that only proves my point that men and women are
vastly different.
The fact is that restrooms are separate for very good reasons.

Frank has already given a great discussion of this objection, so Ill defer to him on this point.
If the constraints of cost and space were somehow eliminated, would you object
to the mandatory inclusion of a gender-neutral bathroom facility at any location
where a mens and womens room is currently provided?
What about providing a single (or several, for that matter) generic restroom
facility? At least five businesses near my home offer this exact arrangement,
presumably because it was cheaper than installing two separate bathrooms.
Granted, only one person can use the facility at a time, but its still
gender-neutral.
That, to me, is why the forced separation of restrooms is pointless. A generic
restroom can easily be provided with no danger of inappropriate contact between
users, so why should segregated facilities be required?
Besides, it wasnt so long ago that people danced cheek-to-cheek, so to speak,
while using public latrines. Is this move toward excretory sequestering, in
your view, likewise a sign of culture on the decline?
Dave!
