I think I have the answer to your question. The San Mateo and Santa Clara stores
together draw on a population of nearly 6 million people. On average, Lego has
put 1 store per each 3 million people in the largest US markets.
Compare: New Jersey/New York have 4 stores covering 18 million people, Southern
CA will have 3 stores for 15 million people, Chicago 3 stores for 9 million
people, Virginia 2 stores for 5 million, Georgia and Boston each 2 stores for
4.5 million.
The Dallas and Houston markets each cover approximately 4.5 million people. So,
the odds are rather good that Lego will go in there with one or two stores. It
does seem as if Boston jumped over y'all on the queue. But if Lego keeps
expanding stores, it won't be long. I put my money on Dallas or Houston as they
are the next most logical markets.
As for spacing out stores evenly in California, I have to tell you the
population is not spaced out evenly, and Lego is clearly going after the biggest
markets. Somewhere way down the list in terms of markets is Sacramento. Where
north were you thinking of?
