It should be interesting to see. The Potomac Mills store (BrickFest? Anyone?
Anyone?) shipped its big sculptures of the DC monuments to LL Deutschland
about 4 or 5 months ago, and just within the past month got a remodelling in
line with the yellow color scheme of the new employee uniform. Although there
are still some sculptures up near the front of the store, the Potomac Mills
store now seems more like what you said...spare and bland.

Im interested in knowing what about the layout makes it bland to your eyes.
Talking to the people who have shared that opinion, it seems to universally be
the lack of the Capital model that has created that difference of feeling,
because there is no longer a massive centerpiece to the store (one that
coincidentally took up much more room than the staging area does now). The new
layout has more variety than the old, and displays more of a larger variety of
product than we were ever able to manage with the large scupltures. I dont
think its the fixtures or the color schemes or the staging areas, but simply
the lack of the main attraction.
Take away the center ring of the circus, and you might not notice that there are
still dancing elephants and tightrope walkers in the other rings. I guess Im
just saying that I wish more people were able to look at the refit for what it
brings to the customer, not what it took away. And trust me, we wouldnt be on
the verge of PAB here if the Capital was still taking up space.

I don't know that 'bland' is exactly the word I was looking to use; although it is definitely 'bright', the new layout is taking some getting used to.....And granted, "the main attraction" of the Capitol is a sorely missed 'wow factor' for (...)
