Well, I guess that rules out my dartboard/blindfold theory, huh? :)

I sympathize with you. Really, I do. And it's nice to know at least some of
the reasoning behind where new stores are opened, but from what little we've
known up until now, a scant few were placed in "big" locations, like the MoA in
Minnesota, but every time a new batch of locations is announced, it seems (to
us, at least) like there are a lot of locations that we'd consider to be
redundant, while the growth into completely new areas is painfully slow. I
guess my biggest concern here is that the most obvious source of market info I
can think of is the mall kiosks. That doesn't give me much hope of ever seeing
one locally, since the kiosk prices were jacked through the roof, and I live in
an area that has a very high penny mortality rate due to pinch-related stress.
It's not that LEGO sets don't sell well here, but rather that they don't sell
well at kiosk prices when you can drive half a block away and find them cheaper
at TRU.
