                                     ??? New Theme Proposal ???
                                               The results are in!

O.k. so because today is my day-off, and cause this is just plain fun, I've
decided to compile a complete summary of the top new sets for Lego in 2003.

(Am I the only one who thinks that TLG should really be takin’ this
seriously!!! I mean were honestly doing the combined work of TLG’s Futura
department and its market annalist division and handin’ them our personal
preference surveys in a neat tidy little package…)

                                                   Here we go:
                                              (Votes per Theme)

1) Fantasy Theme/  Lord of the Rings   = 10
2) Monsters Theme / Hunted house       = 5

3) Revolution Theme                             = 4
4) Underwater/ Atlantis                         = 6
5) Pirate extension                                = 7
6) New Castle                                      = 8
(Knights of the Round Table, Camelot, Excalibur)
7) Vikings Theme                                 = 3
8) Roman Theme                                  = 9
9) Ancient Greece                                 = 5
10) Mongols Theme                              = 4
11) Arabian Knights                              = 3
12) Ancient Egypt                                 = 4
13) Aztec Theme                                  = 3

14) Western/ Gold rush (1849)                          = 2
15) Revolution Theme (1776- 1842?)                 = 4
16) Time of Discovery (1450-1700)                   = 5
17) Renaissance-to-industrialization (1700-1900)= 7

18) New Town/ Furnished / real world town/ village = 4
19) Airline/ Flight Theme/ Navel Freighter                 = 6
20) Zoo theme                                                         = 2

21) Wonders of the World                       = 6
22) Great Outback/ Desert                       = 2
23) Reality   (Prisons, Graveyards,  etc.)   = 3
24) Military Theme                                   = 7

25) Realistic Architecture/Sculpture                                 = 10
26) Bulk Element/s Single color bulk bin -  Lego sphere  = 17

27) New Space /       DUNE  /     Ice Planet 2003              = 7
28) Battletech / Mecha / Gundam                                       = 5
29) Star Wars Podracer sub-theme                                     = 2
30) New Robotics/ RCX/Technic/ Model Team (Johnny 5) = 4

31) Shania Twain World Tour                             = 1        ;)
32) New Girls theme- Nursery Rhyme/tales        = 3

[The above numbers have been tallied from both the post on Lugnet and the
countless e-mails I've received.]

***I think the Ancient/ Historical stuff is the clear winner if combined
together. But individually, the Bulk Elements are truly the way to go.***

Here are my     Final      -!!!Top 5!!!-
                                                (from a list of 32)
New possible, probable, and profitable themes for 2003.

       <drum roll…>

……………………………..#1
26) Bulk Elements/ Single color bulk bin -  Lego sphere
[If done right, this step towards true bulk distributing could really set
Lego upon a path towards profit, and redefine their roll towards becommin’ a
company that truly believes in creation with ‘no-boundaries!’]

……………………………..#2
6) New Castle (Knights of the Round Table, Camelot, Excalibur)
[It could encompass Fantasy and History! And it’s an already established
genre!!!]

……………………………..#3
4) Underwater/ Atlantis
[Would Lego have to buy the rights® from Disney?]

……………………………..#4
8) Roman Theme
[Lego could easily make this their Flagship theme for 2003 with the right
advertising.]

……………………………..#5
28) Battletech / Mecha / Gundam
[Similar to Life on Mars but far more complex!]

(A tie for 5th place in my mind.)

……………………………..#5
25) Realistic Architecture/Sculpture
[Famous creations or landmark buildings would sell world wide.]

        ,’,’,’,’,’,’,SOO00oooooo, what’s your (five 5) choices  from the 32?

         Sincerely,

                       --==RiçhärÐ==--

??? New Theme Proposal ??? `Here’s an idea… (Perhaps an old one.) Instead of always commenting or complaining about what Lego ‘should’ or ‘shouldn’t’ do with regards to its new or upcoming themes, how about we (the AFOL) offer some genuinely New (...)
