each color to produce?

Not sure, probably the same way they do now for sets with more exotic pieces.

How much would you be willing to pay for a 1200 piece tub of a specific
color?  I once heard that LEGO put out the 3033 tub as direct competition to
megablock's tub sets.  The 3033 is being sold very near (or even below?)
cost - a 'sculpture' bucket would have to sell for much more.

I don't agree with this at all. There is still plenty of profit margin in
the 3033, so a $19.99 price for Sculptor would be great. But with the extras
I am suggesting, Lego could twist my arm and probably get $29.99 out of me,
so long as they color coordinate the color of the tubs :) !

On the thought of building spheres, being a computer programmer I did what I
know best - I wrote a program to compute sphere shapes!  It's certainly not
perfect, it only plots 1/8th of the sphere, so you have to mirror that
section to get the rest, but it seems to be accurate.  Now, to convert it
from visual basic to Java, so I can put it on the web somewhere...  :-)

I believe Eric Harshbarger already has one of these in Java. I also think he
would be a BIG proponent of Lego offering the Sculptor concept, for obvious
reasons.

(...) He has? I perused his site, but I didn't come across it. I'd love to get a program to generate LEGO spheres, largely because I really don't have the time to write one, myself. (23 years ago, 4-Sep-01, to lugnet.general)

(...) Great idea, but one potential problem: How could LEGO forecast how many of each color to produce? Personally, I'd love to get my hands on more of the 'earth tones' (brown, dark grey, tan, green, etc...) - but other people might be more (...) (23 years ago, 4-Sep-01, to lugnet.general)
