Found out some News!

Accessories aren't being discontinued, I spoke to a rep that knows Brad, and
explained that Maybe they hope to have Lego Direct up by Holiday season, and
it still in the workings no final draftings as of yet. Also it was explained
that it was a rumor about the accessory packs being discontinued, and that • the
web guy for lego web page shouldn't have put the discontinued statement for
the accessories.

Did he explain why in the latest S@H catalog the "limited quantities" note
appeared above each of the accessories offerings?  Did somebody at TLG jump
the gun and put these notes in by mistake?

I just received the latest catalog in an order from LS@H ("Galaxy of
ADVENTURE!", Spring 2000) and noticed that the "Limited Quantities" is still
mentioned on the accessories pages.

The catalog is shorter, so perhaps this explains the other thing I noticed:
the train and technic accessory pages had fewer items on them than in the Jan
2000 catalog.

For example, the trains accessories now only has tracks, and a speed
regulator.  These weren't marked as 'limited quantities', though, so perhaps
they just didn't have room for the other stuff in the new layout.

The biggest difference is in the technic accessories page.  Since this is
still a full page, the smaller catalog size can't have anything to do with
it.  The following items don't appear any longer: small tires, angle beams,
steering accessories, chain links, and the compressor pumps.  Hope you ordered
extras while they were still available.  I called this morning, and apparently
the chain links are already cancelled - no longer available; the compressor
pump is back ordered.

Here's the missing pieces:
5202 Angle Beams 8 pcs $4.50
5295 Steering Acc. 12 pcs $4.00
5278 Chain Links 35 pcs $4.00 (already cancelled)
5268 Small Tires 8 pcs $4.00
5117 Compressor Pump 7 pcs $4.00 (back ordered)
5107 Pneumatic Pump 1 pc $3.25

(...) But the brick packs will remain. I didn't ask about certain accessories like technic, etc. But this explains a lot, apparently the limited quanity on all accessories is a mistake, and more or less are for certain items. (...) The spring S@H catalog is usually smaller than the others. And the Holiday edition is usually larger. That's at least part of the reason for missing items. Accessory pages are often squeezed down or omitted in the Spring edition. Ditto for (...) (25 years ago, 25-Feb-00, to lugnet.dear-lego, lugnet.technic)
