??? New Theme Proposal ??? —Richard Noeckel
??? New Theme Proposal ??? `Here’s an idea… (Perhaps an old one.) Instead of always commenting or complaining about what Lego ‘should’ or ‘shouldn’t’ do with regards to its new or upcoming themes, how about we (the AFOL) offer some genuinely New (...) (23 years ago, 1-Sep-01, to lugnet.announce, lugnet.general, lugnet.dear-lego) !

Re: ??? New Theme Proposal ??? —Kim Kates
Nice Post! Something like this could really direct TLG towards a more marketable product. Cause the stuff produced now, with the exception of Star Wars, Harry Potter, and the RCX stuff, is really inferior. I actually like the Fantasy Theme aspect (...)          Re: ??? New Theme Proposal ??? —Simon Bennett
(...) ...and the general level of interest in Fantasy will only increase once Lord of the Rings is released. It's the obvious choice for TLG. Psi (23 years ago, 4-Sep-01, to lugnet.general)

Re: ??? New Theme Proposal ??? —Pedro Silva
For a new theme, I'd suggest the time of discoveries: ships, castles, innumerous different people. It's kind of a link between Castle and Pirates, circa 1450-1700. I have some national interest as well... ;-) And a whole lot of civilian buildings in (...) (23 years ago, 1-Sep-01, to lugnet.general)

Re: ??? New Theme Proposal ??? —Josh Baakko
I'd say more Holiday themes. Why not something like Columbus, or a thanksgiving, or maybe even some "forign" holidays (whats out there?). I like the pirtae idea though i'd love to see better ships! More castle stuff, like the Roman idea, how about (...) (23 years ago, 2-Sep-01, to lugnet.general)

Re: ??? New Theme Proposal ??? —Morgan J. Steele
I would like to see more realistic sets. I think models that look like somthing in real life would sell well. The Eiffel Tower, The Leaning tower of Pizza, The hollyweird sign etc. I personaly would like to see an 'Aircraft line' maybee one set (...) (23 years ago, 2-Sep-01, to lugnet.general)

Re: ??? New Theme Proposal ??? —Jeremy Rear
I concur with Morgan re: the aircraft- In addition to a LEGO sculpture scale, I really like the old circa 1984 Aircraft that LEGO released. It would be great if LEGO would release an extension of the "Flight" Subtheme, or at least make available (...) (23 years ago, 2-Sep-01, to lugnet.general)

Re: ??? New Theme Proposal ??? —Shawn Davis
I would buy into the aircraft line. The best way to do this would be to make 4 or 5 model team sets. I would want to have included: 747-400 Blackbird F-16 (23 years ago, 4-Sep-01, to lugnet.general)

Re: ??? New Theme Proposal ??? —Dennis Hwang
I would like to see a Star Wars Podracer sub-theme with all of the podracers and their drivers. It might be interesting to have some sets like the hangar, the starting line, etc. (23 years ago, 2-Sep-01, to lugnet.general)

Re: ??? New Theme Proposal ??? —Alex Kaiser
I would like to see some fully enclosed buildings from Lego in a Town/Train theme with hinges so you can open and close the buildings. They should also create some furniture for minifigs so live in comfort. Another kit I would like to see from Lego (...) (23 years ago, 2-Sep-01, to lugnet.general)

Re: ??? New Theme Proposal ??? —Kyle D. Jackson
(...) Well I've seen this already done before, but here goes. And if LEGO uses any of my ideas I'll be sure to sue their funny faces! ;] 1) Ancient Rome (Castle sub-theme). Toss in a "superdetail" model or two of real structures as well, but that (...) (23 years ago, 4-Sep-01, to lugnet.general)

Re: ??? New Theme Proposal ??? —Sean Harrington
Yes, most excellent post, Richard. On the classic brick front, though, I sent an email to Lego direct last week asking for a Lego Sculptor kit. I suggested a set contained in a tub, like the 3033, but the elements would ONLY in one color and would (...) (23 years ago, 4-Sep-01, to lugnet.general) !!

Re: ??? New Theme Proposal ??? —Kenneth Wright
(...) I think this idea is wonderful and has definite potential for an official set. When I bought the LEGO Mini Figure Sculpture (Set #3723), I was floored by the instructions for the hat, which minus the visor, is half of a sphere. I think putting (...)          Re: ??? New Theme Proposal ??? —John Gerlach
(...) Great idea, but one potential problem: How could LEGO forecast how many of each color to produce? Personally, I'd love to get my hands on more of the 'earth tones' (brown, dark grey, tan, green, etc...) - but other people might be more (...) (23 years ago, 4-Sep-01, to lugnet.general)

          LEGO Sculptor Proposal —Sean Harrington
(...) Not sure, probably the same way they do now for sets with more exotic pieces. (...) I don't agree with this at all. There is still plenty of profit margin in the 3033, so a $19.99 price for Sculptor would be great. But with the extras I am (...) (23 years ago, 4-Sep-01, to lugnet.general)

Re: LEGO Sculptor Proposal —Eric Lind
(...) He has? I perused his site, but I didn't come across it. I'd love to get a program to generate LEGO spheres, largely because I really don't have the time to write one, myself. (23 years ago, 4-Sep-01, to lugnet.general)

Re: LEGO Sculptor Proposal —Eric Harshbarger
As far as I know, I have not written a program to illustrate circles or spheres constructed out of LEGO bricks. I have diagrams of all circles of single brick width and even radii from 2 - about 48 which I made using Photoshop, but those diagrams (...) (23 years ago, 4-Sep-01, to lugnet.general)

Re: LEGO Sculptor Proposal —Sean Harrington
(...) Uhhh, I hypnotized you, yeah, that's the ticket! I hypnotized you and made you write a Java applet for my, uh, my wife, Morgan Fairchild. Yeah. My bad. Sometimes the myth overshadows the man. My apologies. (...) Yeah, so what're you waiting (...) (23 years ago, 5-Sep-01, to lugnet.general)

Re: ??? New Theme Proposal ??? —Jim Schifeling
I believe the single color tub to be the most favorable for a SaH exclusive but on store shelves it would be a flop. It would take too much floor space and how would a store order? Would a case come evenly packed? Many giant retail stores won't (...) (23 years ago, 4-Sep-01, to lugnet.general)

Re: ??? New Theme Proposal ??? —Sean Harrington
(...) Agreed. Althought I had never thought of Lego Sculptor as retail sets, I imagine that if they did, the case would (in the instance of the 3033 Blue Tub, 6 per case, I believe) include one of each primary color: white, red, blue, yellow, green, (...)          LEGO Sculptor —Sean Harrington
For those who want to to see LEGO Sculptor become a reality, vote for it at...           Re: LEGO Sculptor —John Gerlach
(...) 1200 to 1800 pieces at a $20 to $30 price point? Sounds great!! What about if it was 1200 to 1800 pieces at $50 to $80 price point? How good does that sound? I still say that the current 3033 tub is being sold for below or near their (...) (23 years ago, 5-Sep-01, to lugnet.general)

          Re: LEGO Sculptor —Sean Harrington
John, Melissa, & Mark, Good points on pricing, all of them. But I stand by the US$29.99 pricing for LEGO Sculptor, as I think it gives LEGO plenty of room for profit. Pricing elements as a percentage of quantity per set multiplied by the cost of the (...) (23 years ago, 5-Sep-01, to lugnet.general, lugnet.lego.direct)

LEGO Sculptor - Element Inventory? —Sean Harrington
Speaking of which, does anyone have a rough concept of what 1200-1800 elements can build, sphere-wize? Does anyone want to take a swipe at a proposed element breakdown for LEGO Sculptor? Here is one I came up with: Size Quantity b2x10 8 b2x8 8 b2x3 (...) (23 years ago, 5-Sep-01, to lugnet.general)

LEGO Sculptor - Inventory & Exchange Rate —Sean Harrington
(...) I think lots of 1x1 bricks are important, for no other reason that they are your base 1x1 vertical element. If you want to have several 1x thin strands, the best way to do this is with 1x1 bricks. Even though the sphere is the main model, you (...) (23 years ago, 6-Sep-01, to lugnet.general)

Re: LEGO Sculptor - Inventory & Exchange Rate —Martin Legault
(...) I think that 1x4 and 2x4 increase will be good, I would prefer and tub without instruction, no propose model. If you want to make a sphere, use your imagination, that must not be that hard to do, unless you what it to roll for at least 10 feet (...) (23 years ago, 7-Sep-01, to lugnet.general)

Re: ??? New Theme Proposal ??? —Sean Harrington
(...) Agreed. With the four sculptures that are out there, I think that this is a concept who's time has come. But I think the current sculptures are WAY overpriced, i.e. the 3724 Dragon is the closest in part count, and they have it priced at an (...)         Re: ??? New Theme Proposal ??? —Bruce Schlickbernd
(...) I'm sure most of mine would be mutually exclusive, but what the heck: 1. Lord of the Rings. Heck, Lego seems to be into the movie-tie-in theme, and this wedded to the Castle line is such a natural that I'm surprised it isn't a done deal. 2. (...)          Re: ??? New Theme Proposal ??? —Mike Timm

Re: ??? New Theme Proposal ??? —Bradley Dale
A great book for LEGO theme inspiration is Martin Handford's book _Find Waldo Now_, which is printed and bound by L. E. G. O., Vicenza, Italy. (It's true!) I'd like to see an Aztec theme, and a Gold Rush Western subtheme. (23 years ago, 4-Sep-01, to lugnet.general)

Re: ??? New Theme Proposal ??? —Hjalmar Haagsman
I agree with you (and many others) that Lego should do something about those horrible themes! It's more like Duplo that simple! Anyway, that was not what I would like to say. I like the idea of a Roman/Greek Theme. You could design beutiful (...) (23 years ago, 5-Sep-01, to lugnet.general)

Re: ??? New Theme Proposal ??? —Lou Zucaro
(...) Definitely an Egyptian theme, as mentioned previously, in the actual timeframe. This would do best with a few new elements, as I'd want one set to be a big pyramid that opens somehow. I think roof bricks with hinges on them might work (...) (23 years ago, 6-Sep-01, to lugnet.general)
