It'd be cool if it used IRC - not necessarily being part of any network, but

probably be good to have a simplified web interface.

Well, there again, if it happens, I personally would prefer that it
used the same protocol as all the other IRC networks - efnet,
undernet, whatever.  Because I'd be 10 times more likely to fire up
another screen and logon using a unix IRC client than to sit with a
dedicated browser window using it.

I know most people would prefer a web interface, but I bet there is a
way to give it one and allow mIRC and other common IRC clients to use
it as well.

What about using a telnet socket-based talker? Telnetting to
lugnet.com:4000 or whatever is simpler for most people than finding and
setting up an irc cliet. I tend to find that telnet chat rooms are more
personal and friendly than irc - because you have more of a presence -
you can emote and wander about etc :)
